The Lagotto Romagnolo has a double coat of curly, non-shedding hair that covers their entire body -  including the face. The coat grows continuously so needs to be clipped or scissored to keep it tidy.

The coat benefits from being clipped completely down once a year to remove all the old hair; this encourages the curl to grow back fresh and improved.

The Lagotto should not be groomed like a poodle but maintain a rustic appearance. If you will be taking your dog to a groomer please download this grooming guide to provide to them.

• white with brown or orange patches
• orange roan
• brown roan
• brown (in different shades) with or without white
• orange with or without white

Some dogs have a brown to dark brown mask. Tan markings (in different shades) allowed.

The colour black is not allowed - black markings or a black nose is a sign of a cross with another breed.

Height at the withers:
Males:       43 – 48 cm (ideal height: 46 cm).
Females :  41 – 46 cm (ideal height: 43 cm).
Tolerance of 1 cm over or under.

Weight:
Males:     13 – 16 kg.
Females:  11 – 14 kg.

Overall, the Lagotto Romagnolo is a very healthy breed with a life expectancy of 15 to 17 years.
